We are getting ready to start K - kangaroo! I know it will be a fun week but I'm having trouble finding 'work' for Riley. Man I know he is only doing preschool but he wants enough work to last the entire time Christian is doing work. It's great that he loves school but he not only wants enough to do to last the entire time his brother is working he also thinks he has to start earlier. I am so ready for this 'school' year to be over. We will be done the end of April. Then in March we will start preschool with Eli, K with Riley and first with Christian. Christian is ready to move on but I want to make sure he knows it all since 1st grade phonics picks up fast.
Since we will be doing K for the second year in a row we will be doing things a little different this time. We are going to add a lot more lapbooks and really study the topics more. It should be a lot of fun. I also think we are going to try and find a few different projects for each lessons. Since Riley did most of it this year with Christian I want him to have some new things to do. We will see how it goes teaching 2 separate things. 2 phonics lessons, 2 since lessons, 2 math lessons and well you get the idea. After a week or two we will be doing good. Well I'm really do think now!!
I'm a mom of 4 wonderful children. We are in our 3rd year of homeschooling....O my where does the time go???

Long 2 weeks.
Everybody has been sick the last couple weeks. The are had the stomach flew and now they are all taking turns running fever. It has been hard to get things done.
We got Math-U-See. Christian is loving it. Today we finished lesson 7 and 8. I guess maybe Primer is to easy for Him. Tomorrow it will get a little harder. At least I know I'm not leaving anything out. The good thing about him doing a lesson a day we might be able to finish it when we finish K. I know he will start slowing down a little bit because we are starting place value. I don't think he knows that but the way he has caught on to everything else this year I really don't know. K has become easy for him. he is reading short stories and moving through his work with out any problems. Most of the time he doesn't even want me to explain the page to him he just want to do it. He has started asking about lots of other sounds and I don't want to confuse him. I know they will cover it in 1st grade so I'm trying to hard him off until I get the teachers manual to make sure I explain it all right. It makes me feel like I'm holding him back though and I don't want to do that.
We got Hooked on Spanish. It looks like a great started program. I can't decide when to start it. Part of me wants to wait until we start 1st but part of me wants to start now since he want to learn it. I don't want to hold him back if he is ready to move on, but he fast can you let them move on?

Loving it!!
Well I haven't been on here for a while. Over last few months we have realized that homeschooling is perfect for our family. We are loving it!! The kids are learning so much.
Christian is reading!! I never thought I would see the day he could read. I sent him to a preschool last year and he never picked on any letters. He just wasn't ready yet. When he decided he was ready he knew letters and sounds with in a month. He has started asking about Spanish words so we will be starting Spanish soon. I ordered Hooked on Spanish. He can't wait for it to get here. He was also asking a lot about more math. I decided that we would add a math program on top of the everyday math in our curriculum. Math U See with also be here soon. We are starting with Primer witch is the K lower level one. I know he will know part of it but I want to make sure nothing is left out. Looking at what we have left of K he will finish end of March. So sometime in April we will be starting 1st grade!!!
Now Riley is doing good learning to sit during school. He does his work with out any trouble. He is ready to start K. It will be a journey. we found out that he has ADHD is Dec. It is still hard some days but at least I know what I am dealing with now. I am looking for lots of books on it so I can learn more about it. He is also starting speech soon.
Eli is three. Doesn't that say it all? :) We are working on potty training. Some days are better than others. He will start preschool in April. I have been working on printing up and planning his preschool.
Annie is walking everywhere now. She is starting to talk a little. I can't believe is one. The last year went by too fast.

Lesson 2 (Moon)
I'm a little behind, but I am going to try to back track the weeks I've missed and get better about staying on track.
Christian loved learning the phases of the moon. This weeks book were Little Bear and Goodnight Moon. The kids loved making there own Goodnight Moon book. They walked around all week sing This Little Light of Mine. I love hearing them sing. I didn't realize how hard it would be to remember all the things we did when I got behind. So these might be short.

Lesson 1 (sun)

We had a great week! They loved the noodle art, but maybe that is because they got to eat the noodles that they didn't use. Christian and Riley both did really good on there sun and letter s.
Christian is really trying to learn the sound of the letter of the week. That is great because he has never cared about there names. It will all come in time. He is still little.
We got to make a sundial this week. They loved going out to check it. We watched it all day today. We also got to go outside and make shadows. We read the book Bear Shadow to go along with learning about the sun. They really enjoyed the story and going back though it the see all the was bear tried to get rid of his shadow.
We also had music today. They listened to a Mozart song and tried to balance a bean bag on there head. They thought it was fun.
They beg to do school all the time and they talk about how they love there teacher :) We are all loving homeschooling. It has been the best thing for our family.
Poor Eli is still having trouble with all the changes but it will all get better with time. I am looking for Eli so special toys that he can only play with during school time to see if that helps.
Next week we get the learn what m says and about the moon!

Christian wrote his name!!!

Yay! Christian finally wrote his name from memory! Now time to work on the order :) This has been a great week. I love being here with my kids everyday. It is so much fun to see there face light up when they learn something new. Christian can't stop talking about the letter "s". He is saying words slower so he can listen and see if there is a "s" in it. He wants to read so bad.

Week 1 Sun
We started week 1 (sun) yesterday. It has been a great week. Christian loves knowing that he is learning the letter sounds so he can read. Riley gets to do letter projects while I work with Christian on the reading plan. Annie is taking her morning nap during all this so poor Eli is feeling left out. I need to find a way to include him more. Maybe it's time to make Eli a basket of things to do during school time? I will find something that works. Other than that it was been going great. I love watching them learn new things. Right now we are seeing how long it takes to make raisins. They are making a chart of what they look like everyday. Tomorrow they get to paint a sun!! Eli will do that with us.
