We are finishing up our 4th week of Adventures. My kids are loving it. This week we read the North American Indians book. Christian wanted me to keep reading everyday. After getting a few weeks in to school (although it took longer than a few weeks due to being busy busy busy) I am so glad that I went with Rod and Staff English. I really like how it is set up. It fits our family well. Also I have realized I do not care for Spelling by Sounds and Structure. I thought I would like it and I don't......I have been looking and looking. I am really thinking about going with All About Spelling. I really like it (from what I can see in the sample on there website). I am a little worried because it will take more of my time to teach it but with me not being very good with spelling I want to make sure my kids can do better.
Riley is tagging along with Adventures and also finishing K. He will be starting 1st grade soon. I love that he can work where he needs to be and not where everyone else thinks he should be. Taking K a little slower has been good for him. Hopefully he will be ready for 1st now. I know that the writing will be a lot for him but we can split it up if needed.
Eli is still playing :) the MFW preschool packs are so worth the money. Eli and Annie will play with over and over. They are learning so much just from playing. Just Monday I found out Annie can match colors and so then I tried shapes and she can match those too. On top of that she has been in bog girl underwear for about 3 weeks......I guess my baby is growing up.
I'm a mom of 4 wonderful children. We are in our 3rd year of homeschooling....O my where does the time go???

It's been a long time...I guess I'm not to good at this blog thing. O well I will keep trying. Now on to how school is going....
My oldest is doing 2nd grade work now!!! WOW!! It goes by so fast. We are still using My Father's World and loving it. For Math we use Math U See. Then English and Spelling we are using Rod and Staff. Then we add AIG God's Design for Science because my kids love stuff like that. So we just read them for fun :) Now for Spelling we are thinking about changing to All About Spelling. I love how it looks just wish I could look through it before I order. I'll pray about it for a bit longer.
Next in line my 6 year old...He is working on his K work still and doing great. Of course he is using MFW as well. He is loving the books at the end of the week. Everyday I here do I get to make another book yet :) Gotta love it when they love to learn. He is really picking up the early reading. He is trying to sound out everything.
Third in line is having fun with the MFW preschool package. He has gotten so big.
Fourth and final is my little girl. She loving the MFW tot package. We are working on the potty training and well.....it's not going so well. I know she will get it one day but not today :(
I will try to be back more to update....so far I'm not doing so well but tomorrow is another day. God Bless!!!

Well it's been awhile.....
We are still using MFW and loving it. My oldest is now in 1st grade. He is doing so good. I love how the phonic is set up. R is in K now. He is doing good. He is only doing the reading plan and math because he is tagging along with his brother for the rest. He also did a lot of it last year so it seemed silly to repeat it. This is our 2nd year of homeschooling and we are still loving it. Seeing them learning is so much fun.
This year while it seems to be a little easier than last (because I know more about what I'm doing) but it has it's own challenges. Having a 4 and a 2 year old also makes life interesting. My 4 year old tries to join in where he can most days, but there is still a lot of time where he can't be involved. I fill his time with learning games/toys. (ex.. sorting colors, counting, building with blocks, coloring, puzzles, and anything else that I can find) I do the same for my 2 year old. Only she gets bored with the games/toys faster. Her favorite right now is Color me a song by Crayola. I found it right after Christmas for $10 and it was well worth the money. She also loves links. She puts them in cups then dumps them out. She made a necklace out of some the other day. These are the little links made for sorting and patterns not the bigger links made for baby toys.
We moved a few months ago. While it was not easy to move and keep up with normal life it was so worth it. We now have a school room!!! It is so nice to have a room to keep everything in. Having to put it where it would fit was getting old really fast. Now everything is together. No more hunting for things :)
Being a new year I have decided that this year I need to do a little more for myself.... So I am trying my hardest to pick up reading again. I used to love to read but with 4 kids so close together I got out of it for a while. Right now I am reading Lessons I learned int he Dark by Jennifer Rothschild. So far I am really enjoying it.

Just thinking!!
We are getting ready to start K - kangaroo! I know it will be a fun week but I'm having trouble finding 'work' for Riley. Man I know he is only doing preschool but he wants enough work to last the entire time Christian is doing work. It's great that he loves school but he not only wants enough to do to last the entire time his brother is working he also thinks he has to start earlier. I am so ready for this 'school' year to be over. We will be done the end of April. Then in March we will start preschool with Eli, K with Riley and first with Christian. Christian is ready to move on but I want to make sure he knows it all since 1st grade phonics picks up fast.
Since we will be doing K for the second year in a row we will be doing things a little different this time. We are going to add a lot more lapbooks and really study the topics more. It should be a lot of fun. I also think we are going to try and find a few different projects for each lessons. Since Riley did most of it this year with Christian I want him to have some new things to do. We will see how it goes teaching 2 separate things. 2 phonics lessons, 2 since lessons, 2 math lessons and well you get the idea. After a week or two we will be doing good. Well I'm really do think now!!

Long 2 weeks.
Everybody has been sick the last couple weeks. The are had the stomach flew and now they are all taking turns running fever. It has been hard to get things done.
We got Math-U-See. Christian is loving it. Today we finished lesson 7 and 8. I guess maybe Primer is to easy for Him. Tomorrow it will get a little harder. At least I know I'm not leaving anything out. The good thing about him doing a lesson a day we might be able to finish it when we finish K. I know he will start slowing down a little bit because we are starting place value. I don't think he knows that but the way he has caught on to everything else this year I really don't know. K has become easy for him. he is reading short stories and moving through his work with out any problems. Most of the time he doesn't even want me to explain the page to him he just want to do it. He has started asking about lots of other sounds and I don't want to confuse him. I know they will cover it in 1st grade so I'm trying to hard him off until I get the teachers manual to make sure I explain it all right. It makes me feel like I'm holding him back though and I don't want to do that.
We got Hooked on Spanish. It looks like a great started program. I can't decide when to start it. Part of me wants to wait until we start 1st but part of me wants to start now since he want to learn it. I don't want to hold him back if he is ready to move on, but he fast can you let them move on?

Loving it!!
Well I haven't been on here for a while. Over last few months we have realized that homeschooling is perfect for our family. We are loving it!! The kids are learning so much.
Christian is reading!! I never thought I would see the day he could read. I sent him to a preschool last year and he never picked on any letters. He just wasn't ready yet. When he decided he was ready he knew letters and sounds with in a month. He has started asking about Spanish words so we will be starting Spanish soon. I ordered Hooked on Spanish. He can't wait for it to get here. He was also asking a lot about more math. I decided that we would add a math program on top of the everyday math in our curriculum. Math U See with also be here soon. We are starting with Primer witch is the K lower level one. I know he will know part of it but I want to make sure nothing is left out. Looking at what we have left of K he will finish end of March. So sometime in April we will be starting 1st grade!!!
Now Riley is doing good learning to sit during school. He does his work with out any trouble. He is ready to start K. It will be a journey. we found out that he has ADHD is Dec. It is still hard some days but at least I know what I am dealing with now. I am looking for lots of books on it so I can learn more about it. He is also starting speech soon.
Eli is three. Doesn't that say it all? :) We are working on potty training. Some days are better than others. He will start preschool in April. I have been working on printing up and planning his preschool.
Annie is walking everywhere now. She is starting to talk a little. I can't believe is one. The last year went by too fast.

Lesson 2 (Moon)
I'm a little behind, but I am going to try to back track the weeks I've missed and get better about staying on track.
Christian loved learning the phases of the moon. This weeks book were Little Bear and Goodnight Moon. The kids loved making there own Goodnight Moon book. They walked around all week sing This Little Light of Mine. I love hearing them sing. I didn't realize how hard it would be to remember all the things we did when I got behind. So these might be short.
